'Booking Through Thursday'

WHY BUY?

Even if you are a die-hard fan of the public library system, I’m betting you have at least ONE permanent resident of your bookshelves in your house. I’m betting that no real book-lover can go through life without owning at least one book. So … why that one? What made you buy the books that you actually own, even though your usual preference is to borrow and return them?
If you usually buy your books, tell me why. Why buy instead of borrow? Why shell out your hard-earned dollars for something you could get for free?

It's my first BTT & I'm happy to share my answer...

I used to go to the library to borrow books.. Till now, I borrow books that ONLY in good condition. I couldn't deny, I'm judging a book by its cover! :) And the cover, does matter for me.

So why do I buy them? Because of their covers of course. And, their contents too. If I possess them, I would have all the time in the world to read them without worrying whether I could finished reading them or ending up few pages left unread. Happy reading!!!

Yup, I'm guilty of judging books by their covers too. =)

Happy 1st BTT! I like a fresh, clean book, with crisp pages, but I'm a library user too. Here's my answer:

It's nice not to have to rush through books. I'm a sucker for a pretty cover too. =)

See a few people have said if they own it they have all the time in the world to read it, no deadlines but the books I own are the ones I keep putting of reading and never get to because I will always have it. My library books I read quickly.

Covers are nice but once when I was younger I bought a book on Biblical doctrine because of it's cover.

Welcome to BTT!

Surprisingly, I don't really pay much attention to the covers, but still I prefer nice looking ones hehe.

My take on "Why Buy?"

Oh yes.... I often buy a book by its cover calling out to me... Usually covers bedecked with vibrant colours, floral designs, beautiful artwork, or calligraphy beckon me.

I like a nice cover, but I rarely buy a book based on that alone. Out of curiosity, do you buy "special edition" books, you know the ones with "extra pretty" covers or just the original?
